The goal of the “Family Planning” program is to prevent unwanted or poorly timed pregnancies, stop sexual disease transmission and improve the long term health and well-being of families
Services offered through Women’s Health include:
- Physical exam (including pelvic exams)
- Education/counseling on birth control methods
- Breast exam and self breast exam techniques are taught
- Education & counseling to help adopt healthier lifestyles through regular gynecological care, good nutrition, and reduction of risk behaviors that cause susceptibility to cancer and other sexually transmitted infections
- HIV counseling
- Variety of Lab testing
Birth Control Methods:
- Abstinence
- Birth control pulls
- Condoms (“Rubbers”)
- Depo-Provera (injection)
- Contraceptive Film (Spermicide)
- IUD (intra-uterine device)
- Diaphragm
- Emergency Contraception (EC) counseling only
- Natural Family Planning
Eligibility:
- Must be able to bear children
- Medicaid is accepted. If uninsured or self-pay these services will be provided on a sliding fee scale (income and family size will determine fee)
- Must bring proof of income (paycheck stub)
Clinic Times:
By ruling of the NC Legislature, teenagers may be seen in clinic without parental consent
